UPDATE ON INITIATIVE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF FORMER CHILD (IDEFOCS)
&
HELPING HUGS for CHILDREN (HHFC) PARTNERSHIP
IDEFOCS and Helping Hugs for Children partnership is dated as far back as 2018. Helping Hugs for Children grew interest in partnering with IDEFOCS upon reviewed of IDEFOCS’s activities in and out of Liberia. Since 2003, IDEFOCS has been involved with the rehabilitation and reintegration of former child soldiers, drugs users, women associated with fighting forces ghetto communities. IDEFOCS stance on the fight against drugs has witnessed the rehabilitation and reintegration of over 7000 to 8000 young people in and out of Liberia.
Amidst such intense campaign, IDEFOCS realized that its targeted partners were also having kids despite their state of vulnerability. Many of these kids are maltreated and marginalized by their guardians because of the statuses of their parents. IDEFOCS however decided to reach out to those kids and give them a sense of hope and belongingness.
Admittedly, it was at that juncture that helping hugs for children had its first project with IDEFOCS on December 25, 2018 at IDEFOCS sub-office in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. Since 2018 up to present Helping Hugs for Children has been one of IDEFOCS’ most constant and supportive partners.
